United Nations announced 21 June as the International yoga day in 2014. Yoga is a 5000 years old practice, and now it is more popular than ever.
Though yoga originated from India, yoga is not limited to one place or region; it is an international practice. The reason why yoga has received this much attention in the past couple of years is that it is effective. It delivers what it promises. And that is the reason why people of every age are adopting it.
The main reason why this day exists isthat of the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He called for a day to celebrate yoga all over the world, and United Nations did not hesitate to say yes. On 21st of June, the whole world celebrates the yoga by introducing multiple events. For me, every day is the yoga day, but the cool thing about June 21st is that the whole world will appreciate it, and a large part of the world will perform yoga with me. Cool, right? If you are not going to the event, we have some ways you can celebrate International yoga day. And even if you are going some event, you can still perform everything I am about to tell you.
Do yoga (Shocking, right?)
That was pretty obvious. But wait, you can also be a new comer, and you are looking into the yoga for the first time. So would not it great to start performing yoga on the international yoga day?
Even if you are not a newcomer, you can still perform yoga, but today, just spend a little more time on it. Try to do is somewhere else today. Try to go to a peaceful park, or maybe your favorite picnic spot and perform yoga there. It will be a fresh change for a day.
Invite your friends to perform yoga with you:
Tell your friends about international yoga day, and get them to do yoga with you. I know people get excited on international days because I do, so maybe they will be down to give it a try. Ask your co-workers or your classmates to come practice yoga with you for a day. If you have a yoga event near you, go to the event. Who knows you might dig it, and start doing yoga, you will also get a partner for your yoga.
Organize Community Event:
It always feels good to give back, doesn’t it? Another great way to celebrate International yoga day is by having hosted a free community event. If you know enough about yoga and you think you can teach it for a day, this might be the best option for you. Maybe you find it relaxing or satisfying, and you might want to do it every week. This world needs as many yogis as it can get.
But that is not all, if you cannot arrange a class or event, you can always give some donations to public organizations or your local communities. I always feel fulfilled after donating some money for a good cause.
It always depends on you how you want to make your day productive. If you have something else in mind, execute it, but make sure that it is appropriate to the day. I always try to find some events near me and force my close friends to come with me. If you are into yoga, moreover if you have a passion for it, I would advise you to go to the nearest event. That is because many professionals come to these events, and you can learn so much from them.
